Cruising Solo

June 15, 2010

Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) newest and largest cruise ship, the Epic, is just about ready to launch, sailing on June 24 from Southampton, England to New York. Most notable about the Epic, however, is NCL’s inclusion of 128 mini-cabins (referred to as “The Studios”) specifically designed (and priced) to cater to the solo traveler.

The Studios are small (each is roughly 100 square feet in size) and provide no views. However, this move by Norwegian, I hope, shows a growing trend toward catering to the single traveler.

If you’re hoping to be one of the first to experience The Studios, you’re going to have to wait your turn. NCL recently announced that the transatlantic maiden voyage of the Epic has been sold out.
