September 11, 2010

I’m at home again, so it’s back to my regular blogging schedule. And what better way to start off your weekend than with a little Weekend Intelligence?

  • SkyRider airline tries to cram passengers into 23 inches of space with these saddle-type seats. I wonder if they make a side saddle version for those of us who travel in skirts once in a while…
  • You don’t have to go across the world or even across the country to travel well. Case in point? Budget Travel’s Coolest Small Towns in America.
  • Ever since returning from San Francisco, I’m already thinking about where to go next. My main constraints are time and money. Fortunately, Stephanie at TwentySomething Travel offers “9 Little Ways to Sock Away Travel Money.” Her tips have helped her save over $20,000 over the past 2 years or so, enough to take her on a round-the-world trip for a year.
  • Speaking of where to go next, Charleston, SC has been on my must-see list for a long time. L.A. Times travel writer Jessica Garrison calls it a “food lover’s paradise.” Sold!
  • Robert Reid, Lonely Planet’s Travel Editor, on the richness of the solo travel experience.
